Interview 1^st Liberation with Kristoffer (Degen) singer/bassist 7 june 2009 by mail

Valérie : Hello ! My name is Valérie. Can you please in few words introduce us the band?
Kristoffer : It's live, it's fuckin' loud, it's dangerous, it's the 1^st liberation!

Valérie : What bands gave you the desire to be a musician?

Kristoffer : Everyone in the band has always listen very much to classic hard rock like black sabbath, motörhead etc. When we first started to play with 1^st liberation we were very inspired by the swedish hardcore scene in the 90:s, with bands like shield, raised fist and refused.

Valérie : What are your favourite bands?

Kristoffer : Motörhead, Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Sleep, Ennio Morricone, Roky Erickson, Guns n roses and thousands more bands :P

Valérie : How old are you when did you know that you wanted to become a musician?

Kristoffer : 14-15 i think, nowdays it's all we do. Work is boring. Boredom is just a state of mind!

Valérie : For you, in your wildest dreams, you like to do the open show of which band?

Kristoffer : Motörhead, sabbath, ozzy, queen, guns n roses, alice cooper, iggy would be really cool :)

Valérie : When you write lyrics, do you think of them in Swedish at first, or directly in English?

Kristoffer : Directly in english. I have thinked about translating the lyrics, but we have never did that!
It get's way to complicated!

Valérie : How do you compose your songs? The idea comes first the lyrics or music?
Kristoffer : Always the music, we are jamming a lot in our rehersal room. Drinking beer and just jamming.
And suddenly, we just have a great fucking rock'n'roll song! Then someone have to put lyrics on it.
It's always someone who can make it great, cause we are all songwriters in the band.

Valérie : If you had to choose just one song from all your songs to talk about, which would be and why?

Kristoffer : A new song called « Do what you want »
I think it's the greatest song! I love the lyrics and the song really makes me happy. We played it live for the first time yesterday. The song-title speak for itself, it's a great heavy rock'n'roll song, talking bout' the freedom we all have to choose!

Valérie : Your titles « Heart Of Stone » and « It's So Easy » it's a wink to EUROPE and to Guns'N Roses? If I say that it's because « Heart Of Stone » is a song in « The Final Countdown » album of EUROPE and « It's so Easy » is a song of « Appetite for destruction » lol

Kristoffer : Hehe, we can never get away with that!! but the songs have nothing at all to do with those songs!
The english language don't have that many words, sometimes it just gets confusing.

Valérie : Have you other occupations that music ?

Kristoffer : Our drummer works at « systembolaget ». A kind of « liquor store » here in Sweden. (Strong beer and booze can only be sold there)
But the rest of us are just lazy motherfuckers, for sure 
